Through personal experience with different denominations (i.e., Catholic; African Methodist Episcopal Zion [AME Zion]; African Methodist Episcopal [AME]) prior to experience with non-denominations, came awareness that Scripture in song is a significant aspect of Methodism. Howbeit not unusual for me to sing whilst reading specific Scripture as it occurred twice today.  

  • Scripture: “In that day the LORD of Hosts (JEHOVAH SABAOTH) Himself will be their crowning glory, the diadem of beauty to the remnant of His people.” Isaiah 28:5 (TLB & NKJV combined)
    • Song: “All hail the power of Jesus’ name! Let angels prostrate fall; Bring forth the royal diadem, And crown Him Lord of all. Bring forth the royal diadem and crown Him Lord of all.” 1 
  • Scripture: “In that day the LORD will take His terrible, swift sword and punish Leviathan the fleeing serpent; And He will slay the reptile that is in the sea.” Isaiah 27:1 (TLB & NKJV combined)
    • Song: “Mine eyes has seen the glory of the coming of the Lord. He is trampling out the vintage where the grapes of wrath are stored. He hath loosed the fateful lightning of His terrible swift sword His truth is marching on. Glory, Glory, hallelujah! Glory, Glory, hallelujah! Glory, Glory, Hallelujah! His truth is marching on. . . . . .”2 & 3
