The Prophets, The High Priest, The Rest . . .
“Arise, My people! Let your light shine for all the nations to see! For the glory of the LORD is streaming from you. Darkness as black as night shall cover all the peoples of the earth, but the glory of the LORD will shine from you.” Isaiah 60:1-2 (TLB)
“In my distress I prayed to the LORD and He answered me and rescued me. He is for me! How can I be afraid? What can mere man do to me? The LORD is on my side, He will help me. Let those who hate me beware.” Psalm 118:5-7 (TLB)
Scripture: “So let us seize and hold fast and retain without wavering the hope we cherish and confess and our acknowledgement of it, for He Who promised is reliable (sure) and faithful to His word.” Hebrews 10:23 (AMP)
Confession: God said it, and it is true unto me by the blood of Jesus, so be it unto me according to the Word of God by the redemptive work of Christ Jesus.
“What is mere man that You are so concerned about him? And who is this Son of Man that You honor Him so highly? For though You made Him lower than the angels for a little while, now You have crowned Him with glory and honor. And You have put Him in complete charge of everything there is. Nothing is left out. . . . We who have been made holy by Jesus, now have the same Father He has. . . . . Since we, God’s children, are human beings—-made of flesh and blood—-He became flesh and blood too by being born in human form; for only as a human being could He die and in dying break the power of the devil who had the power of death. Only in that way could He deliver those who through fear of death have been living all their lives as slaves to constant dread. We all know He did not come as an angel but as a human being—-yes, a Jew.” Hebrews 2:6-8,11,14-16 (TLB)
“. . . I want you to think now about this Jesus who is God’s Messenger and the High Priest of our faith. For Jesus was faithful to God who appointed Him High Priest . . . .” Jeremiah 3:1-2 (TLB)
“Speak to each other about these things every day while there is still time, so that none of you will become hardened against God, being blinded by the glamor of sin.” Jeremiah 3:13 (TLB)
“. . . I want you to think now about this Jesus who is God’s Messenger and the High Priest of our faith. For Jesus was faithful to God who appointed Him High Priest . . . .” Jeremiah 3:1-2 (TLB)
“Listen, O foolish, senseless people—you with the eyes that do not see and the ears that do not listen—have you no respect at all for Me? the LORD God asks. . . . . ” Jeremiah 5:21 (TLB)
“Until My people leave their foolishness, for they refuse to listen to Me, they are dull, retarded children who have no understanding. They are smart enough at doing wrong, but for doing right they have no talent, none at all.” Jeremiah 4:22 (TLB)
“Plow up the hardness of your hearts, otherwise the good seed will be wasted among the thorns.” Jeremiah 4:3b (TLB)
“Although God’s promise still stands—His promise that all may enter His place of rest—we ought to tremble with fear because some of you may be on the verge of failing to get there after all. For the wonderful news—the message that God wants to save us—has been given to us just as it was to those who lived in the time of Moses. But it didn’t do them any good because they didn’t believe it. They didn’t mix it with faith. For only we who believe God can enter into His place of rest.” Hebrews 4:1-3a (TLB)
“So there is a full complete rest still waiting for the people of God. Christ has already entered there. He is resting from His work, just as God did after the creation.” Hebrews 4:8-10 (TLB)
“The new place of rest He is talking about does not mean the land of Israel that Joshua led them into. If that were what God meant, He would not have spoken long afterwards about ‘today’ being the time to get in.” Hebrews 4:8-10 (TLB)
“You have been Christians a long time now, and you ought to be teaching others, but instead you have dropped back to the place where you need someone to teach you all over again the very first principles in God’s Word. You are like babies who can drink only milk, not old enough for solid food. And when a person is living on milk it shows he isn’t very far along in the Christian life, and doesn’t know much about the difference between right and wrong. He is still a baby-Christian! You will never be able to eat solid spiritual food and understand the deeper things of God’s Word until you become better Christians and learn right from wrong by practicing doing right.” Hebrews 5:12-14 (TLB)
“Yet the LORD pleads with you still: Ask where the good road is, the godly paths you used to walk in, in the days of long ago. Travel there and you will find rest for your souls.” Jeremiah 6:16 (TLB)
