Communicating With God
Prayer is communication with God which allows His power to work through us. Although God is Omnipotent, He also keeps or is true to His word. Therefore, in giving man dominion in the earth (Genesis 1:26-28), we welcome or invite God to work through us. (Satan always operates exactly contrary to God, in that his cohorts show-up uninvited [crashing the party so to speak]; yet these too must be allowed [whether willingly or unwittingly] to do so.) As the Holy Spirit has revealed, God’s word never returns empty (Isaiah 55:11); hence by this revelation we may discern that the most effective prayer only speaks what God says.
It is often said that, in speaking God’s word back to Him, we are reminding God of what He has promised. However, God is Omniscient; hence He wouldn’t have a memory problem. Rather, by speaking and doing and praying the WORD of God, it is us who are kept in tune or in step with God’s will for our lives. Therefore, a very effective prayer that we may personalize as we ask God the Father, in the name of God the Son, is the prayer given by God the Holy Spirit; and delineated in Ephesians 1:17-19. These verses of Scripture specifically ask for wisdom & revelation to: •know God better (have deep and intimate insight of Him); •know God’s plan (for our lives and the assignment thereof); •know God’s inheritance (or provision to succeed in our assignments); and •know God’s power (residing within us).
Ephesians 1:17-23 (NIV & AMP combined and personalized) – “Abba Father, God of my Lord and Savior – Jesus the Christ, the Father of glory, grant me a spirit of wisdom and revelation [of insight into mysteries and secrets] in the [deep and intimate] knowledge of You, Father. By having the eyes of my spirit flooded with light, so that I may know You better. And so that I may know and understand the hope to which You have called me, and what are the riches of Your glorious inheritance in the saints (Your set apart ones); And so that I may know and understand Your incomparably great power for us who believe, as demonstrated by Your mighty strength exerted in Christ Jesus when You raised Him up from the dead, and seated Him at Your (own) right hand in the heavenly realms, far above all rule and authority, power and dominion, and every name that is named, [above every title that can be conferred], not only in this age and this world but also in the age and the world to come. And You placed all things under the feet of Jesus our Lord, and appointed Him the universal and supreme Head of the church, which is His body, the fullness of Him that fills all in all.”
