Dear Sisters and Brothers in Jesus the Christ,
When a verse within the written Word of God “sends” one by way of reference to another verse(s) or book(s) within the Holy Bible, it’s like a chase (which is most satisfying when time is allotted to move in its direction at a leisurely pace). This particular Word Chase includes –
obedience -> broken -> contrition -> repentance -> revive -> favor
The sacrifice of a Believer to God is obedience (read 1 Samuel 15:22; Psalm 51:16; Isaiah 1:11; Hosea 6:6; Micah 6:6-8; Mark 12:33). Christ Jesus – the Living Word, walked in perfect obedience to the Will of God the Father. Therefore, the life of God the Son exemplified the Way.
David said, 6“Sacrifice and offering You did not desire; My ears You have opened. Burnt offering and sin offering You did not require. 7Then I said, ‘Behold, I come; In the scroll of the book it is written of me.” Psalm 40:6-7 (NKJV).
Christ Jesus said, 5“. . . Sacrifice and offering you did not desire, but a body you prepared for me; 6 with burnt offerings and sin offerings you were not pleased. 7 Then I said, ‘Here I am–it is written about me in the scroll–I have come to do your will, O God.” Hebrews 10:5-7 (NIV).
The sacrifice of a Believer to God is a broken spirit, and the heartfelt contrition of repentance (Psalm 51:17; Isaiah 57:15). The LORD God saves those who are crushed in spirit (Psalm 34:18b). Believers are they who with broken spirit repent (read Isaiah 59:12-20), and call on the Name of the Lord Jesus Who is the Cornerstone (read Matthew 21:33-44).
“This [Jesus] is the Stone which was despised and rejected by you, the builders, but which has become the Head of the corner [the Cornerstone]” Acts 4:11 (AMP).
22“The stone the builders rejected has become the capstone; 23 the LORD has done this, and it is marvelous in our eyes. 24 This is the day the LORD has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it.” Psalm 118:22-24 (NKJV).
In Jesus, Believers are the righteousness of God; blessed and highly favored; entitled to covenant kindness and covenant favor. Covenant is a benefit of obedience, and now is the time of the LORD’S favor (read Isaiah 61). In Jesus’ Name, be it unto you according to the Word of God.
Speak the promise . . . Harriet
