Dear Sisters and Brothers in Jesus the Christ,
Believers are speaking spirits. The sons and daughters of the Most High God have the DNA of “the God Who gives life to the dead and calls things that are not as though they were” Romans 4:17c (NIV). Take great care as to what you allow to come out of your mouth. You may ask the Lord to help your way of thinking as God has given us His Spirit Who helps the (ongoing) renewal of the soul/mind. Yet, Believers must exercise constraint as to what they speak. Also, heed the type of pronouncement(s) you allow your spirit to receive. Cancel a bad report; and cancel bad speak. Do you recall: “Sticks and stones may break my bones but words can never harm me”? Well, cancel that concept. The struggle of the Soldier of Light is “. . . not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places” Ephesians 6:12 (KJV). Who do they say you are? What do they call you? To which attribute(s) do you readily respond?
In attempting to denote the essence of God the Father, humankind uses terms such as Omnipotent and Sovereign, and ascribes more than 100 names to the Creator of Heaven and earth: Yahweh/Jehovah (Hebrew YHWH, traditionally Jehovah)¹; Elohim/God, Yahweh/The LORD, El Elyon/God Most High, El Roi/God Who Sees, El Shaddai/God Almighty, Yahweh Yireh/The LORD Will Provide, Adonai/Lord, Yahweh Nissi/The LORD Is My Banner, Yahweh Shalom/The LORD Is Peace, Yahweh Tsidkenu/The LORD Is Our Righteousness (p. 541)²; and Jehovah Rophe/Our Healer (Exodus 26c)³. During what seems to have been a significantly lonely point in His earthly walk (read John 17), with the warmth that only a personal relationship could bring, Jesus used the Aramaic word for “Daddy” which is Abba Father while praying (read Mark 14:36).
As to His Name, God the Father proclaimed: “I am the Almighty God” Genesis 17:1 (KJV). “I AM WHO I AM” and “I AM” Exodus 3:14 (NKJV). And to the Israelites via Moses, that His Name is to be remembered forever, from generation to generation as “The LORD, the God of your father – the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac and the God of Jacob . . . ” Exodus 3:15 (NIV). As to His essence, God refers to His goodness (Exodus 33:19), as did Jesus (read Mark 10:19; Luke 18:19). When Moses asked to see God’s glory, He “6 . . . passed in front of Moses proclaiming, ‘The LORD, the LORD, the compassionate and gracious God, slow to anger, abounding in love and faithfulness, 7 maintaining love to thousands, and forgiving wickedness, rebellion and sin. . . .” Exodus 34:6-7 (NIV). Be it unto you according to the Will of God. It is true unto you according to the Word of God.
Speak the promise . . . Harriet
