Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ Jesus,
The WORD of God often uses a tree to lend a visual of that which comes of relationship with God; and more specifically, a tree whose roots extend toward water because man cannot thrive sans a viable connection to the Sovereign LORD in whose likeness we were created (see Genesis 1:26-27).
Jeremiah 17:7-8 (NKJV & NIV): “Blessed is s/he who trusts in the LORD, whose confidence is in Him. S/He is like a tree planted by the water which sends its roots out by the stream. It does not fear when heat comes; its leaves remain green. It does not worry in a year of drought, and never fails to produce fruit.” (personalized)
Psalm 1:3 (NIV): “(I) am like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither. Whatever (I) do prospers (to the glory of God).” (personalized)
For those reconciled unto the Family of God the Father by the blood of God the Son – JESUS, we are given the Living Water Who is God the Holy Spirit. Our Lord Jesus said,
John 7:37-39 (NLT): “. . . If you are thirsty, come to me! If you believe in me, come and drink! For the Scriptures declare that rivers of living water will flow out from within. (When He said ‘living water’, He was speaking of the Spirit, Who would be given to everyone believing in Him. But the Spirit had not yet been given, because Jesus had not yet entered into His glory.)“
We may survive but we do not thrive sans a personal connection (relationship) with Abba Father through Jesus the Anointed One and His Anointing by the power of the Holy Spirit. Such would be akin to a sent one (predestined) having come into a land without the slightest clue as to why s/he is there, and without either map or GPS to lend guidance as to the path on which to move successfully forward.
As it is sung, Your WORD is a lamp unto my feet, a light unto my pathway . . . and through Your WORD I will understand, Your Will for my life (because I sow) Your WORD, (sow) Your WORD in my heart.” (see Psalm 119:105). Therefore, in Him, even though we walk through the valley of darkness/even though we walk through the valley of no light (see Psalm 23:4a), we are to be walking epistles of the Light of the world Who is JESUS (see John 8:12).
Speak the promise . . . Harriet
