Jesus heard them and answered, ‘Healthy people don’t need a doctor, but sick people do. I didn’t come to invite good people to be my followers. I came to invite sinners.” Mark 2:17 (CEV)

As I prayed this morning the thought came that should my neighbors ask me to pray with them, I’d ask whether they had believed and confessed Jesus as Savior and Lord (Romans 10:9); and I was promptly corrected to simply pray as asked. For a seed planted by one person may be watered by another (1Co 3:6) but nourishment is of God (Proverbs 11:24-26; Isaiah 58:11) through the Holy Spirit whose Ministry began on earth when the Lord Jesus ascended (John 14:16-26 & 16:7-15).

Therefore, to sow the seed of God’s Word by the mouth or the tongue is primary. For it is the evidence of good fruit (Galatians 5:22-23; John 15:16) which the redeemed are called out to produce that attract the lost to GOD who does the cleaning. In other words, the work of the redeemed is to catch the fish; the LORD cleans the fish. Thereby, the redeemed “stand in the gap and make-up the hedge” (Ezekiel 22:30):

  • for the land, and
  • for those redeemed by the blood of Jesus, and
  • for the lost.
