Dear Sisters and Brothers in Jesus the Christ,
Who or what do you speak to as your pillar of stability? Seems I’ve become more attentive to frequent proclamations as to who is the “rock” for whom. One high office government official proclaimed his wife to be his rock; in turn she proclaimed her mother as her rock. A celebrity proclaimed her husband as her rock (until the tabloids published some stuff about him that resulted in her departing the homestead). Humankind as immovable, steadfast, consistently stable, and ever present? Some proclaim solace from sports, while others seek solace from various forms of gambling, still others seek solace from “recreational” drugs, and others seek solace from work. Inanimate objects as sustainable forces for life?
But David spoke his love for the LORD God, and proclaimed the LORD as his rock, fortress, shield, refuge, horn of strength, stronghold, salvation, and deliverer (read Psalm 18:1-3). Believers may have confidence as evidenced by Word and deed that the glory of Israel never changes (1 Samuel 15:29; Hebrews 13:8). S/he who has the Living Word Who is Christ Jesus has life (1 John 5:12); faith in the Son of God is the victory that overcomes the world. God alone is the creator and sustainer of life (read 1 John 5). Only in Christ Jesus does humankind have eternal life (right) now; He is the bread of life (read John 6:33, 40).
Life to the full in abundance ‘til it overflows is through the life force in the blood of the perfect Lamb of God Who is Jesus. In Jesus’ Name, call on the LORD and He will walk before you in every circumstance and situation. The thing is you do have to invite Him in. David said that he cried to God for help and the LORD heard his voice, “my cry came before Him, into His ears” Psalm 18:6 (NIV). Praise God! The LORD will rebuke the devourer for your sake (Malachi 3:11); the LORD will draw you out of the deep mess of your very own making (read Psalms 18:16, 35:19, 34:22; Romans 8:1). Read, study, and meditate on the Word of God to know His Will for your life. Develop your one-to-one relationship with God Who desires only good for your life. “In all your ways acknowledge Him and He will make your paths straight” Proverbs 3:6 (NIV).
“When everything else fails, I can go to the Rock.
When trouble surrounds me, I can go to the Rock.
You see, My Father, said He would keep me,
If I abide in His Holy Word.
No matter what the problem, I can go to the Rock”
Speak the promise . . . Harriet
