Faith For God’s Promises . . .
- “It is clear, then, that God’s promise to give the whole earth to Abraham and his descendants was not because Abraham obeyed God’s laws but because he trusted God to keep His promise. . . . . So God’s blessings are given to us by faith, as a free gift, we are certain to get them whether or not we follow Jewish customs if we have faith like Abraham’s, for Abraham is the father of us all when it comes to these matters of faith.” Romans 4:13,16 (TLB)
As stated by another: “Faith for the promise is in the promise.” That is, the promises of YHWH (with inserted vowels YAHWEH transliterated JEHOVAH commonly interpreted the LORD) which is His will for the lives of mankind are delineated in God’s Word. Therefore, we find God’s promises by reading, studying, meditating, and muttering the Word of God; and we are strongly encouraged to confess God’s Word as well as pray it. To believe in God and to believe God are two different things. For Scripture relays the fact that even the devil believes in God (read – James 2:19) whereas lack of adherence to God’s direction abounds. It is faith in the Word of God that’ll manifest the promises of God through the power of the Holy Spirit for those who revere Him because the things of God are made manifest by faith.
The Lord Jesus referred to it as having the God-kind of faith (read – Mark 11:22-24); the Apostle Paul wrote that those who come to the LORD God must believe, which is to have faith (read – Hebrews 11:6); and the Apostle John wrote that if we pray/ask God the Father about anything in keeping with His will we may be confident, which is faith (read – 1 John 5:14-15). To be clear, the promises of God inherit with salvation are gifts of God; not because of our own good works (read – Ephesians 2:8-9). Rather, the redemptive work of Christ Jesus has entitled those “in Him” to the manifest promises of the LORD God; our inheritance is encased in this New Covenant between the LORD God and man ratified by the blood of Jesus. For the Blood has gifted to those “in Christ” direct access to the LORD God, a middleman is no longer required; the only requirement is faith which works by love (read – Galatians 5:6).
- “Then Jesus uttered another loud cry, and dismissed His spirit. And the curtain in the Temple was split apart from top to bottom.” Mark 15:37-38 (TLB)
- “. . . now we may walk right into the very Holy of Holies; where God is, because of the blood of Jesus. This is the fresh, new, life-giving way which Christ has opened up for us by tearing the curtain . . . .” Hebrews 10:19 (TLB)
