Repentance for Salvation (Acts 2:38) . . .
In addition to the Ten Commandments, the Old Testament/Old Covenant between the LORD God and humankind delineates more than 600 laws requiring the blood of various animals, etc. to “cover” sins – the transgressions of mankind. But relative to the New Testament/New Covenant, the blood of Jesus – the redemptive work of Christ Jesus “obliterates” sin. The LORD God sent the One whose life is the light for all mankind; LOVE is GOD Who gifted His only begotten Son for the harvest of more sons and daughters because He so loved the world.
- Jesus said, “I have not come to arouse and invite and call the righteous, but the erring ones (those not free from sin to repentance [to change their minds for the better and heartily to amend their ways, with abhorrence of their past sins]. Luke 5:33 (AMPC).
Hence, with a grateful heart I often say: Thank you Lord Jesus for walking in perfect obedience to the will of God the Father on behalf of all mankind so that we may have abundant life and the promised Holy Spirit. The Blood that bought and brought redemption for all who believe and confess Jesus the Christ, also bestowed the indwelling of God’s Spirit who empowers our own ability to resist the devil manipulated desire to continue sinning. For, the repentant heart receives salvation followed by a reborn spirit whose soul (i.e., intellect, will, emotions) requires ongoing renewal in the Word of God through the Teaching of the Holy Spirit. Howbeit, the ability of the redeemed to manifest The Blessing of Abraham and the fullness thereof by the redemptive work of Christ Jesus is through the power of the Holy Spirit. Those who study and heed the Living Word for comprehension as well as application,
- “He is like a man building a house, who dug deep and laid the foundation on the rock. And when the flood arose, the stream beat vehemently against that house, and could not shake it, for it was founded on the rock. But he who heard and did nothing is like a man who built a house on the earth without a foundation, against which the stream beat vehemently; and immediately it fell. And the ruin of that house was great.” Luke 6:48-49 (NKJV)
