Dear Sisters and Brothers in Jesus the Christ,

The Word of God made flesh (John 1:14) only did and spoke as He heard of His Father (John 5:19 & 8:26b,28,38 & 12:49-50 & 14:10,24b). Hence, the Apostle Paul reiterated in his letter to the Believers living in Ephesus, that followers of Christ Jesus are to exhibit the characteristics of our Father as the Lord Jesus gave example.

  • Therefore be imitators of God [copy Him and follow His example], as well-beloved children[imitate their fathers].Ephesians 5:1 (AMPC)

Yet long before God the Father sent Jesus the Anointed One and His Anointed Who exemplified the characteristics and the way of the Father, to show us in Whose image we were created (Genesis 1:26), there were others who endeavored and were successful imitating to a degree the way of God the Father, even before the blood of Jesus reconciled a Believer as a child of God, such as David.

David was keenly aware of the characteristic of JEHOVAH SABAOTH – God of the Angel Armies – Our Protector, to such an extent that even as a youth (in comparison to Soldiers of the age of his older brothers), he was fully confident about the blood covenant and The Blessing of Abraham that protected him, Hence, David never cowered whilst Goliath boasted; he was cognizant of the fact that his strength lay in the LORD God. Therefore, David spoke seven confessions for manifestation with the utmost confidence:

  1. For who is this uncircumcised Philistine that he should defy the armies of the Living God?1 Samuel 17:26 (AMPC)
  1. Let no man’s heart fail because of this Philistine; your servant will go out and fight with him.1 Samuel 17:32 (AMPC)
  1. Your servant killed both the lion and the bear; and this uncircumcised Philistine shall be like one of them for he has defied the armies of the living God.1 Samuel 17:36 (AMPC)
  1. . . . The LORD Who delivered me out of the paw of the lion and out of the paw of the bear, He will deliver me out of the hand of this Philistine.1 Samuel 17:37 (AMPC)
  1. You come to me with a sword, a spear, and a javelin, but I come to you in the name of the LORD of hosts, the God of the ranks of Israel, whom you have defied.1 Samuel 17:45 (AMPC)
  1. This day the LORD will deliver you into my hands, and I will smite you and cut off your head. And I will give the corpses of the army of the Philistines this day to the birds of the air and the wild beasts of the earth, that all the earth may know that there is a God in Israel.1 Samuel 17:46 (AMPC)
  1. And all this assembly shall know that the LORD saves not with sword and spear; for the battle is the LORD’s and He will give you into our hands.1 Samuel 17:47 (AMPC)

David spoke it and then he did it. Though David didn’t boast of his own strength; Rather he boasted of God’s power. David was fully confident that it was true unto him according to the Word of God; and such allowed an Angel of the LORD to propel David’s single smooth stone like a bullet. We are in a dispensation of time, that has bestowed far more than was available to the saints or partakers of the Old Covenant. For the Birth and Ministry and Death and Resurrection and Ascension and seating of Christ Jesus at the right hand of God the Father has given partakers of the New Covenant, ratified by the blood of Jesus, a plethora of gifts from God the Father including the indwelling of the Holy Spirit, the Ministry-of-Authority, and the power weapons of God (to name a few).

However, to develop the confidence that the Word of God is true unto us by the blood of Jesus requires (ongoing) transformation of the soul (intellect, will, emotion) in the Word of God for revelation of the information therein through the Teaching of the Holy Spirit. Therefore, the Apostle Paul wrote,

  • Do not be conformed to this world (this age), [fashioned after and adapted to its external, superficial customs], but be transformed (changed) by the [entire] renewal of your mind [by its new ideals and its new attitude], so that you may prove [for yourselves] what is the good and acceptable and perfect will of God, even the thing which is good and acceptable and perfect [in His sight for you].Romans 12:2 (AMPC)

For the spirit is reborn or re-created or regenerated instantaneously whereas the soul (intellect, will, emotions) must be continually renewed day by day; and the comprehension and application thereof is for the benefit of self and others to establish God’s Kingdom on earth as it is in Heaven until the dispensation of time when the earth is made new (2 Peter 3:1-18; Revelation 21:1). Come Lord Jesus!
