Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ Jesus,

17)  The sin of this one man, Adam, caused death to rule over us, but all who receive God’s wonderful, gracious gift of righteousness will live in triumph over sin and death through this one man, Jesus Christ. . . . 19)  For just as one man’s disobedience (failing to hear, heedlessness, and carelessness) the many were constituted sinners, so by one Man’s obedience the many will be constituted righteous (made acceptable to God, brought into right standing with Him).”  Romans 5:17 (NLT) & 19 (AMP)

Oh! for the faithfulness of the Sovereign Lord God Almighty toward mankind. Oh! the compassionate love of the LORD GOD for mankind created just a little lower than Himself with free-will. Oh! “but thou art a God ready to pardon, gracious and merciful, slow to anger, and of great kindness, and forsook them notNehemiah 9:17 (KJV). But why does man seem insistent on using free-will in opposition to the advice of the LORD GOD?

  • The Omniscient One told Adam what would occur if he did such and so (Genesis 2:16-17). But Adam decided to act contrary to the advice of God, ushering in sin and death (Genesis 3:1-6).
  • The Omniscient One told Cain what would transpire if he continued in the way of jealousy and anger and not doing right (Genesis 4:3-7). But Cain ignored the advice of God, committing the first murder (Genesis 4:8).
  • The Omniscient One told Noah that seedtime and harvest would never cease, blessed them, and made covenant with the rainbow as a sign that He would never again rid the earth of debauchery by water. But Noah got drunk and upon awakening spoke the curse back to man (Genesis 8:22, 9:1,15,21-25).
  • The Omniscient One advised the male man (Genesis 1:27) against more than one wife that their heart be not turned away (Deuteronomy 17:17). But a significant number disregarded God’s counsel, though none more than King Solomon whose wisdom didn’t prevent him from 700 wives, and his heart was indeed turned away (1 Kings 11:1-9).

Mankind’s use of free-will, divergent to the way of GOD was of the first Adam’s disobedience to the will of God which fixed it such that mankind isn’t able to do in the way of God by our own volition. But it is the redemptive work of Christ Jesus – the last Adam’s obedience to the will of God the Father which fixed it such that we are able to do in the way of God by His mighty power within (Eph 1:19 & 3:20).

 Speak the promise . . . Harriet
