Dear Sisters and Brothers in Jesus the Christ,

Praying is asking God. The Sovereign LORD God Almighty, gave dominion over the earth to man (Genesis 1:26-27). Those redeemed, regenerated, and reconciled unto the Family of God the Father by the blood of God the Son-JESUS, may comprehend the WORD by the power of God the Holy Spirit. That is, making time for the Holy Spirit to teach our re-created/regenerated/reborn spirit allows revelation knowledge of the information in God’s WORD which delineates His (always good) will for our lives. By the WORD we may know that Abba Father cannot tell a lie; that God can neither lie nor change necessarily means that whatever He speaks must manifest, it cannot return void (1 Samuel 15:29; Malachi 3:6; Hebrews 13:8; James 1:17; Isaiah 55:11). Therefore, as John Wesley stated, “. . . (God) can do nothing for humanity unless someone asks Him.¹ Praying is asking God. The WORD tells us that when we ask God the Father anything in the Name of Jesus, we may have confidence that it shall be given (John 15:16 & 16:23-26); yet to receive one must believe (Mark 11:24). Faith believes what God has spoken concerning those with spirits regenerated by the blood of Jesus; and faith strengthened by the WORD of God can make supplication for even the unregenerate/unbeliever. Glory to God! There is nothing that praying in keeping with God’s WORD cannot do. Following are various types of prayers¹ with an example (in parentheses) of where to read a corresponding Scripture:

  • The Prayer of Faith – petition to change things based on God’s will (e.g. Mark 11:24 New International Version).
  • The Prayer of Agreement – two or more standing firm with clarity for a specific thing (e.g. Matthew 18:19 Amplified Bible).
  • Prayer of Supplication – fervent, earnest prayer for ourselves, for others in the Family of God, as well as the unbeliever (e.g. 1 Timothy 2:1 King James Version).
  • The Prayer of Worship – an attitude of expectant worship of God (e.g. Acts 13:2 New Living Translation).
  • Prayer in the Spirit – a supernatural gift spoken in unknown tongues; only understood between God and the regenerated spirit-man who’s speaking (e.g. 1 Corinthians 14:2 Amplified Bible).
  • The Prayer of Consecration – dedication of one’s life for God’s use (e.g. Luke 22:42 King James Version).
  • Intercessory Prayer – standing in the gap to hold back judgment; prompted & directed by the Holy Spirit (e.g. Ezekiel 22:30 King James Version).
  • The Prayer of Commitment – casting all care on the LORD via prayer (e.g. Psalms 55:22 New King James Version).
  • United Prayer – lifting voices in one accord; corporate prayer; many saints praying together (e.g. Acts 4:24 New Living Translation).
