Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ Jesus,

16  And I will ask the Father, and He will give you another Comforter (Counselor, Helper, Intercessor, Advocate, Strengthener, and Standby), that He may remain with you forever.  17  The Spirit of Truth, Whom the world cannot receive (welcome, take to its heart), because it does not see Him or know and recognize Him, for He lives with you [constantly] and will be in you.John 14:16-17 (AMP)

King David told the Prophet Nathan of his desire to build a house for GOD but the response of the LORD through the prophet to David was that He would “make David a house” – a lineage forever (2 Samuel 7:11b). For GOD is the Giver, we will never beat Him at giving and blessing others. The Sovereign Lord God Almighty is the Rewarder to those who diligently seek Him (Hebrew 11:6); to the diligent seeker the myriad Names of God denote His nature toward us as:

  • EL SHADDAI – the One who “takes care of us”.
  • ADONAI – the One who “gives gifts and equips”.
  • JEHOVAH-JIREH – the One who “foresees all our needs and provides”.
  • JEHOVAH-SABAOTH – the One who “protects, answers when we call, and commands His angels to guard us” (Psalm 91).
  • JEHOVAH-RAPHA – the One who “takes dis-ease from the midst of us”.

King David trusted in GOD and was a diligent seeker of the LORD. The diligent exhibits care or conscientiousness in seeking the face of God whatever the situation may be. However, the difference between King David’s Old Covenant with the LORD GOD and our New Covenant with the LORD GOD is that we who are “in Him” have direct access to the Father by the blood of Jesus. Therefore, speaking with God no longer requires a middle-man because He lives within us. So, why is it necessary to seek God who is already in us? We seek God who is in us for a viable relationship which necessarily involves two-way communication. In other words, one person doing all the talking and making all of the requests while the other person does all the listening and satisfying requests via giving is neither viable nor a relationship. (Perhaps needless to say) God who is Omniscient knows us better than we know ourselves; hence one-to-one relationship is about spending quality time with God far more than once or twice a week. The redemptive work of Christ Jesus fixed it so that we may (free-will) get to know God better by His Spirit whom we received the moment we confessed YESHUA/JESUS as Savior and Lord (Romans 10:9; Acts 2:21,38 & 4:12; Galatians 3:14b).

The present-day Ministry of the Holy Spirit includes comforting, counseling and teaching, reminding us of all things Jesus. “But the Comforter (Counselor, Helper, Intercessor, Advocate, Strengthener, Standby), the Holy Spirit, Whom the Father will send in My name [in My place, to represent Me and act on My behalf], He will teach you all things. And He will cause you to recall (will remind you of, bring to your remembrance) everything I have told youJohn 14:26 (AMP). My emphasis on the word “act” is because “He puts forth power to produce an effect”; He is here to do. The Holy Spirit acts on behalf of the Lord Jesus who has always acted on behalf of God the Father. Yet though God loves and desires relationship with each of us, we invite Him into the various aspects of our lives because He doesn’t intrude. Nevertheless, forever God is faithful, forever God is Love, forever God is with you and I, forever and ever.

So, what is the big deal about reading, studying, meditating, and muttering The Book? The Word of God is far more than just another book; it is a lamp unto our feet – a light unto our pathway (Psalm 119:105). The Holy Bible delineates the Will of God for the life of all mankind. The Living Word relays the nature of God who is Love. The WORD contains nutrients for the re-created or reborn spirit; and when we feed our spirit, our soul (i.e., intellect, will, emotions) is renewed which enables both the spirit and the soul together to direct the body (flesh). The reborn spirit is thirsty for everything the Spirit of Truth was sent to minister. Yet it’s via (continual) renewal of the mind by the Word of God that we are enlightened about the power of God within us to do in keeping with His will. Sans allowing (free-will) the Holy Spirit’s Teaching through revelation of the information in God’s Word, there is dormancy between the Spirit of God and the spirit re-created by the Blood.

Prayer: Abba Father, according to John 6:44, John 14:6, I Corinthians 1:9, and Colossians 1:13, You draw and attract to Jesus and have brought us out of the dominion of darkness, and into the kingdom of Your only begotten Son. Father, I call remembrance to my prayer for increased sensitivity to the promptings of Your Spirit within us, so that we may serve You better to open eyes blinded by darkness. That those outside of Your Kingdom of Light may desire to draw nearer to You through Christ Jesus; and those of us inside Your kingdom may come to know fullness of life from the abundant seed of Your Word and the overflow thereof, kept in the Heavenly realm for us, beyond the reach of change and decay, to establish Your covenant in the earth, in Jesus’ name, Amen.

Speak the promise . . . Harriet
