According to Gary Martin author of The Phrase Finder website (www.phrases.org.uk) use of the term: “The sky is the limit” originated in the USA just prior to WWI. More specifically, in a New York newspaper – The Syracuse Herald in September 1911. (And) earlier in another US newspaper – The Stevens Point Daily Journal in August 1899; influenced by the invention of the airplane. The term has since been used in various mediums such as in the title of a 1943 movie featuring Fred Astaire & Joan Leslie during WWII, as well as a Winnie the Pooh VHS in 1992. My personal preference for the use of this term is by The Clark Sisters uses in their hit song entitled Expect Your Miracle and later shortened to Miracle. However, the Lord Jesus said: “whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours” Mark 11:24. Therefore, in keeping with the Word of God, we adjust the line of that song by singing:  

“There is no limit to what I can have, There is no limit to what I can have, There is no limit to what I can have; Just believe and receive it, God will perform it today . . . .”
